Ben Shelley: SHORT READ: Kings won’t renew Mike Futa’s contract

Wonder what caused the fallout. A couple of years ago the King's couldn't live without him when he was testing the waters. Hope it doesn't come back to bite them in the rear because I can't see any success with Blake running the ship without having both Futa and Yanetti scouting the kids.

I don't know that I like the poll options.

Futa did a good job for us while he was here, but he was Lombardi's guy. Yannetti took over scouting under Blake and there wasn't really a fit for Futa in the new system. I wouldn't say I like it, but I don't hate it, but I certainly do care.

It was time for Futa to move on. He has been on a lot of teams' short list for GM, but he didn't find a fit that he liked. A lot of teams would be lucky to have him. Very curious to see where he ends up.

From what I understand, he is a world-class guy and he will be missed. I wish him luck in his future position (but not too much luck).

This is so predictable that I'm surprised that none of us predicted it. It explains things perfectly. Futa was let go so that Blake could promote his best friend into the position. If true, that's just pathetic.

Terrible move by Rob Blake! Futa should be kept on.
